Slayne (“Slayne,” “we,” “us”) operates the event-discovery and ticketing service at slayne.events and is based in Chicago, Illinois, USA. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Because we operate from the United States, your information is processed and stored in the U.S. Questions? Email admin@slayne.events.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google, Apple, or email, we receive your name and email address to create and identify your account.
- How you found us. If you arrive through a marketing link or a link in one of our emails, we record the referring source or campaign (for example, UTM tags) and associate it with your account, so we can understand which channels and messages bring people to Slayne.
- Your activity on Slayne. Events you save, “I have tickets” flags, events you submit as a host, tickets you purchase, searches you run, and the events, weekends, and party series you view or tap. When you are signed in, this activity is associated with your account; when you are signed out, it is tied to an anonymous session identifier instead.
- Searches. When you search, we log the text you enter, how many results it returned, and which result (if any) you tap, associated with your account when you are signed in. We use this to improve search and discovery.
- Payment information (buyers). Ticket payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details — only an order record (amount, status, a Stripe reference, and a QR ticket token).
- Payout information (hosts). Hosts who sell tickets onboard with Stripe Connect. Identity and bank details are collected and verified by Stripe; we store only a reference to your connected Stripe account.
- Email engagement. For emails we send you, we record delivery and engagement events — such as whether a message was delivered, bounced, or reported as spam, and clicks on links within our marketing emails — associated with your email address and the campaign. We use this to measure how our communications perform and to protect deliverability (for example, to stop emailing an address that bounces). See Marketing emails and your choices below.
- Usage data. Basic interaction signals used to rank and improve discovery (such as which weekends, party series, and events are viewed or tapped), plus standard analytics from our hosting provider. Some of these signals are associated with your account when you are signed in.
- Location (Near Me, optional). When you tap the “Near Me” sort, your browser asks for permission to share your approximate location. If you grant it, your coordinates are used only on the device to sort the weekend or series list by distance — they are never sent to Slayne’s servers or stored in our database. They’re cached in your browser’s
sessionStorageso the sort works again within the same session without re-prompting. - Photos you upload. If you host an event (or, as an admin, edit a party series), photos you upload are stored in our
event-imagesstorage bucket (public-read, so they render on the public event/series page). Uploaded photos remain associated with the event or series until you replace or remove them. - Preferences. A cookie that remembers your interface theme.
How we use information
- To provide and operate the service — authentication, saving events, processing ticket purchases and host payouts, and door check-in via QR tickets.
- To review and approve host-submitted events before they go live.
- To improve event discovery, search, and ranking.
- To communicate with you about your account, purchases, or support requests (transactional emails).
- To send you marketing emails about Slayne — for example, a welcome message when you join and occasional product or event updates — which you can opt out of at any time (see below).
- To measure how our emails and campaigns perform, including attributing later activity (such as signups, saves, or ticket purchases) back to the campaign that referred or emailed you, so we can understand what is useful.
- To show occasional promotional banners on event pages. These may be selected based on the events, party series, locations, or categories you are viewing, and in some cases may be shown to specific accounts. These are Slayne’s own promotions — we do not run third-party ad networks.
Service providers we share with
We share information only as needed with the providers that run Slayne:
- Supabase — authentication and database.
- Stripe — payment processing and host payouts (Stripe Connect).
- Vercel — hosting and analytics.
- Apple MapKit — venue maps on event pages.
- Resend / Google Workspace — transactional, support, and marketing email, including email delivery and click tracking. Links in our marketing emails may be routed through a Slayne-operated tracking subdomain (
go.slayne.events) so we can measure clicks. We do not use open-tracking pixels. - Twilio — SMS delivery for the event text updates you opt into.
Providers used to find public event listings do not receive your personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
Marketing emails and your choices
Once you have an account, we may send you marketing emails — such as a welcome message when you join, occasional product updates, and event highlights. These are separate from transactional emails (account, purchase, and support messages), which you receive as a necessary part of using Slayne.
- Opting out. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link (and a one-click
List-Unsubscribeoption in supported email apps). You can also email admin@slayne.events to opt out. Opting out stops marketing emails; you will still receive necessary transactional messages. - Suppression. We maintain a do-not-send list and automatically stop sending marketing email to addresses that opt out, hard-bounce, or report a message as spam.
- Tracking. As noted above, we record delivery and engagement events for our emails (including clicks on links, routed through our
go.slayne.eventstracking subdomain) and use them, together with your account, to measure campaign performance and attribute downstream activity to a campaign. This is first-party measurement; we do not share it with advertisers.
Cookies
We use a small number of first-party cookies:
- An anonymous session cookie used for rate-limiting and engagement signals (clicks and saves that power our popularity ranking).
- A theme cookie that stores your interface preference.
- First-party attribution cookies, kept for about 30 days and used only for our own analytics, so we can understand which campaigns bring people to Slayne:
slayne_attrremembers the marketing source or campaign that referred you when you arrive via a marketing link, andslayne_attr_clickrecords that you clicked a link in one of our marketing emails. We use these to attribute your signup and later activity to the campaign that reached you. They are used only for analytics and are never used to sign you in or access your account.
If you choose to use “Near Me,” your last-shared coordinates are also cached in your browser’s sessionStorage (device-only, never sent to our servers). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Data retention and your choices
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations (for example, ticket and payout records). You can opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link or by emailing us. You can request access to or deletion of your account data by emailing admin@slayne.events.
SMS / text messages
When you save an event or purchase a ticket, we may offer to collect your US mobile phone number so the event host can send you recurring text updates about that event (for example, door time changes or venue updates).
- What we collect. Your phone number, stored in E.164 format alongside a timestamp recording when you gave consent.
- Why. To enable hosts to send event-related text updates to attendees who have opted in.
- Opt-in. Providing your number is voluntary, and is never required to save an event, buy a ticket, or use any part of Slayne. You will not receive texts unless you choose to share your number.
- Message frequency. These are recurring messages; frequency varies and depends on the events you save or buy tickets to.
- Msg & data rates may apply. Standard messaging rates from your carrier may apply to texts you receive.
- Help & opt-out. Reply HELP for help, or reply STOP to any text to stop receiving messages. You can also remove your number at any time from your account settings.
- We do not share your mobile information. Your phone number and SMS opt-in are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. We use it only to deliver the event texts you opted into (sent on our behalf by Twilio).
Age
Slayne is intended for adults. It is not directed to anyone under 18, and many listed events are 18+ or 21+ as set by their venues and organizers.
